This model is a fine-tuned version of
google/mt5-small, specifically adapted to translate short texts
from Spanish into Portuguese.
The fine-tuning was performed as a test using a very small parallel corpus, resulting in limited performance.
It achieves the following results on the evaluation set:
Due to the small size of the training corpus, it has significant limitations and provides very low-quality translations.
It is not recommended for any practical translation tasks or production use.
The model was trained and evaluated on a small parallel corpus created from the Universal Declaration of Human Rights,
containing approximately 100 aligned sentence pairs in Spanish and Portuguese.
The dataset was split into 80% for training and 20% for evaluation.
