Novelai is an artificial intelligence (AI) platform created by Anlatan, which provides story continuation and image generation services, and is an early popular AI painting platform among ACG enthusiasts in China. Its image generation function is based on the Stable diffusion model and was officially launched on October 3,2022, with the theme of Japanese painting style 2D. Users can generate images by entering keywords (tags) , or they can use text as input. After the picture is generated, the user can make a second adjustment according to the need. However, because the platform was expensive and the finished product was based on a free and open source training model, the model file (suffix. CKPT) for the project was stolen and released by hackers. Currently, many local installers are actually built using AUTOMATIC1111's Github project“Stable-diffusion-webui” as the UI and the project's model file as the kernel.
